Hartlebury Art Group

About Us

We have been painting as a group since 2000. The group was started by Maggie Herbert and has been instrumental in raising money for local causes.
Until recently we have produced a calendar showing paintings of local scenes, one for each month of the year. We have raised many hundreds of pounds through sales, mainly via the post office. We also produce cards from our paintings. We have had quite a few exhibitions in the past, some in the village hall and we have had auctions of our paintings to raise funds for local groups.

Our main aim is to have fun painting as a group, where we encourage and support each other to carry on painting.
We meet at Hartlebury Parish Hall every Wednesday afternoon at 2.00 pm until 4 00 pm. All levels of ability and experience are represented in the group and everyone usually does their own thing. We have more or less even numbers of men and women. There’s lots of sharing of ideas and helping each other and we work in every medium from pastels to pencils, watercolour to acrylic. Even sculpture has been tried in the past! Occasionally we have a visiting artist to show us new techniques or give us a bit of extra inspiration but members also do occasional demonstrations or workshops too if they wish.

Anyone interested in coming to see us on a Wednesday afternoon will be very welcome. Like most people we all have busy lives, so there is no expectation that people should come every week. This flexibility is a real bonus.
